File Compare Utility

File Compare is a utility that every program developer should have. It allows two binary files to be compared on a byte by byte basis. Developers can test the functionality of their programs by comparing their output to a known good file, either from another source or from an earlier version of the program.

File Compare does more than a simple comparison. It resynchronizes the files when differences are found. Differences are shown in hexadecimal and ASCII, and can be saved to a text file. Initial offsets allow portions of the files to be compared.

Please, see the Read Me File for more details of the options and program operations.

FileCompare is available for free.

This is the permanent license version. It is approximately 280KB and should take about 1-2 minutes (at 28.8kbps) to download. Please, see the Installation Notes for an explanation of the installation process.

Screen Savers

Several screen savers available. These screen savers are free.

The sunflower icon SunFlowers (59kb): Sun flowers grow on the screen whenever the screen saver is active. The user can specify the number and size of the flowers.

The train icon Train (46kb): An old fashion choo choo train puffs its way across the screen.

See the Installation Instructions if you don't know how to setup a screen saver.

UnixCRLF Utility

UnixCRLF is a utility to convert back and forth between the single character line feeds used by Unix and the double character carriage return / line feeds used by MS-DOS. This utility is free.

Although many transfer programs and FTP utilities convert text files automatically, these programs do not always recognize program source code, CGI scripts, etc. as files that require conversion. Also, if the file was compressed (ZIP, Tar, etc.), the decompressed file will need to be converted.

Download UnixCRLF_10.exe (189kb)
